MSN LAB IS ENGAGED IN RESEARCH FIELDS THAT ARE BASED ON THE FOLLOWING AXES:

This research field aims to develop methodologies and technological paradigms based on Computer Vision (CV) and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) for gesture modelling and recognition. This research field has a  variety of applications in different domains such as education, culture, industry and robotics.

Various methodologies are developed in order to  extract knowledge and create innovative educational tools and software, web-based collaborative learning  systems and e-learning educational platforms. MTCG is  also involved in the study of sonic and visual feedback so it can be applied in sensorimotor learning of gestural skills.

The Semantic Web provides structure and organizes information in such manner for it to be understood by machines. The Semantic Analysis and Ontologies team is involved in describing web resources with metadata, creating ontologies and  semantic analysis, as well as the management of multimedia information in the Semantic Web.

The Computer Graphics & Virtual Reality Team contributes to the development of 3D Graphics and Virtual Reality conducting research that is related to the development of online virtual learning environments, 3D simulations and the construction of 3D models using real data.

The main goal of this research is the design  and development of multimedia systems and management of multimedia information through user-friendly graphic interfaces.  The  Multimedia Systems and Communications Team conducts studies on the integration of multimedia technologies on Internet services.
